About Moultrie Meadows
The warm Southern hospitality is extended throughout the Main Lodge and Cottages that offer guests expansive views of the cascading shoals of the Flint River. The rolling countryside offers horse trails and hiking trails, wild life, and secluded forests in which to enjoy the natural beauty of Moultrie Meadows.
With almost 800 acres of land, Moultrie Meadows sits on the banks of the Flint River, with almost a mile of river frontage. The land has been in the Moultrie family since 1887. In 1996, Cheryl and Robert began planning the country retreat and how best to use the land.
Their active lifestyles, commitment to family, and strong religious beliefs led to the development of a master plan and architectural concepts designed by Atlanta architect Ron Sineway. Beginning as a weekend “get-a-way” retreat and equestrian stable for Cheryl’s dream to continue riding horses as she did as a child in Mississippi, the vision quickly expanded, driven by Robert’s growing interest in Beefmaster Cattle.
Construction of today’s Moultrie Meadows began in 1998. Initially, the pastures were developed, the Main Lodge and Stable and Stable Loft were built and dedicated in November, 2000. Since then, Cottages have been added to accommodate the many family and friends who join them for weekends and holidays. A Chapel has been added along side an historic family Cemetery on the land and a Skeet Shooting Range is now open.

What began as a family heirloom has become a retreat for hobbies and outdoor interests including a successful registered equine and beefmaster cattle farm. This country retreat offers many amenities and recreational activities for the outdoorsman to enjoy including horseback riding, hunting, skeet shooting, fly fishing, kayaking and canoeing. For the not so outdoorsman, the setting is beautiful and peaceful and there are many cozy spots ---indoors and outdoors -- for just curling up with a good book.
