Expanded Production and Acreage
Robert Moultrie and Farm Manager Ben Copeland have increased the acreage dedicated to Beefmaster breeding from 120 acres to 400 acres over the last two years. This pasture is over seeded each year with rye grass and oats, providing good pasture in early fall and into the winter months and offering a rich, lush pasture in the spring.
Today, the Moultrie herd is made up of x bulls and x dames that play a vital role in perfecting the conformation and underline of these animals while maintaining all six essentials of the Beefmaster name/brand for top marketability: weight, conformation, fertility, hardiness, disposition, and milking ability.
Moultrie Meadows Beefmaster operation is expanding its recip cattle herd from 200 to 250 and expanding its donor cows from 10 to 15, which will dramatically increase the production capability of the farm. To support the growing herd, a small farming operation has begun to grow corn and feed on some of the acreage. |
